What is CETA?
CETA is an acronym of the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), a bilateral agreement between Canada and the European Union (EU). CETA applies to high value procurement contracts by the public sector at federal, provincial entities as well as MASH sector.
What is Single Point of Access (SPA)?
Under CETA, Canada is obligated to provide an electronic Single Point of Access (SPA) for all CETA-covered procurement starting September 21, 2022, allowing vendors to find relevant solicitation and award information in one place. To meet these requirements, the federal government is developing a new website “CanadaBuys” which will house all relevant data for CETA-covered solicitations for those agencies not using CanadaBuys to perform their procurement activities.
How is Merx involved?
Merx has been working with the Government of Canada to ensure that notices for tenders that meet or exceed CETA thresholds are posted automatically to the Single Point of Access CanadaBuys.
I am not currently using Merx, how do I comply with the CETA Single Point of Access requirement?
If you are using a non-Merx electronic tendering solution and you want to ensure that your solicitations that meet CETA requirements are sent directly to CanadaBuys, you can click here to register or fill out the form below to request a demo. There will be no additional cost associated with this feature as it is a legal requirement that you, as a public entity, must fulfill.
